Week 35 "W.O.W."

Funny story: we did exchanges this week, and we were knocking on a door of an investigator who wasnt home, and there was a guy on the other side of the street we saw who was smoking. So I turned to my comp and told her to Word of Wisdom OYM this guy, and she went, "You do it!" and I said, "No. I dont want to! I like watching others do it, its funny." And she goes, "Imagine BEING that person who OYMs the guy?" So we talked until the guy walked away and it was too late. And literally a minute later, this man walks up to us and starts trying his hardest to speak english to me, and when I told him that I spoke Tagalog, he was so relieved and we started talking, and at the same time, me and my comp looked down at his hands where he was holding a cigarette, and she silently reaches into her bag, grabs out a WOW pamphlet, and puts it in my hand, and I go, "Brother! Ano po iyan??" (what is that??) pointing to his cigarette, and he gets a little embarrassed and says, "It's a cigarette!" and I said to him, "Bakit brother?" (Why?) "Pangit po iyan so katuahan mo!" (That's bad for your body! actually, the word is ugly, but) and he literally lifts the cigarette into the air so that I can see it, then carefully, he smashes it on the ground and steps on it! Hahahah! And then we taught about the Word of Wisdom right then and there. It was SO funny. God really tested me there! Haha. That was our favorite part of the whole day. Other than that, I cant remember much of what happened this week. A member took Sis Yanzon and I to this delicious burger place- H.I.D. REAL BURGERS. *heart eyes*
This week was great. We had two little boys baptized, and they were so dang cute! Ha ha! Robin and Benock, they're brothers and they're so ready!
Anyway, I love you all so much and I am grateful to be here sharing this gospel. It's a sacrifice, really. But I have so much faith that in all things in , when we are faithful, all of our losses will be made up. We will be blessed with more than we can even imagine. I love you all so much, and I hope you're making good choices. Be HAPPY! Be FAITHFUL. :)

Week 34 "I Love You All"

So I would send you all the most spiritual and cutest email ever, BUT there are these kids sitting right next to me, and I'm trying to keep my cool. They are shattering my eardrums with their worldly music and shouts. Hahaha.
I'm enduring. ;) This week was crazy and fun and hard and all things a mission is. We took the new MTC missionaries on exchanges this week. Sister McGrath, they're your students! :') They've literally only been in the Philippines for one day and some of them ate BBQed pigs blood, some rode trikes and jeepneys, but OURS was a lucky dog. We made her save kittens from a ditch with us. HAHAHA. But she didn't complain. She was so excited to just be in the Philippines. Whatta girl! :)

We did MTC exchanges, and we saved some kittens from a ditch, and we made the new missionary do it too. Are we mean? HAHA.

The other day, we had dinner at a member's house, and while we were eating delicious food inside, the dog was enjoying his own meal outside. He literally ate my kabahay's shoes and I couldnt help myself but laugh. Long after we'd gotten home and everyone was over it, I was STILL laughing. Ha ha. That was cute. (No worries, she laughed, too)

We believe SO strongly in animal therapy, and this guy did it for us. HOW CUTE? (its a chowchow @sis Udarbe)

And on Thursday, we had one of the HOTTEST days ever. (See picture below and you will understand). ;)

Everyone keeps asking me how hot it actually is in the Philippines.... and I will show you that this is how hot it is. I kept thinking I was spilling water on myself, but I'll be real with you. That's not water HAHAHAH.

Friday we had a FHE with some investigators and members, and we played in flour, so that was obviously a party.
And our tender mercy of the week is that we got a new investigator, Anne. She is SO READY to receive the gospel. She is AMAZING! :) She comes to church every week, and she asks US the inspired questions. That is what we are supposed to do, but she's the one who is really filed with the spirit. We are praying always for sweet Anne. :)

Alright, so I'm gonna head out before I say something mean to little kids. ;)  I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!! :) Stay safe, make good choices!

Week 33 - Hitting 8 Months

Hi everyone! HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
I don't have lots of time remaining in my emails, but I just want to say thank you all who email me, and I hope I was able to get back to you. I love you all, and I'm grateful to those who read my emails, and also for those who just click the "mark as read" button. ;) Thanks for letting me pass through your mind even for a sec. ;)

This week was full of miracles, and of course SKYPE. I'm SO grateful for mothers and for family. They are DIVINE, as President Gordon B. Hinkley puts it. I'm so grateful for the Plan of Salvation that gives us a way to be with our families forever. It breaks my heart for those who don't believe in forever. We got the chance to teach a man on the side of the street about our Father's plan for us. About the chance that we have to return to live with our Father in Heaven, that we can be with our family even after death, and that we are still ourselves after this life, that no, we don't turn into dust, and we didn't come from just anywhere. I'm GRATEFUL for the Plan of Salvation. :) I love this Gospel, I love my family. I love my best friends. I love you all. :)

Stay strong and be of good courage, is what they say, right?:) Know I love you all.
The Church is true, the Book is blue, and our Heavenly Father loves us. :)

Week 32 "Transfer #6"

Hi everyone! Transfer weeks are the longest weeks of my whole life. I am now in the city- Marikina and I have never sweat so much in my entire life. Sweat plus direct sunlight, along with all the polution from the jeepneys and trikes and cars does absolute wonders to your skin. :)
I also have a new companion, Sister Yanzon. She is super cute. I am her first Senior, and she is so great at her missionary work- we get along really well and we have so much fun together!
Also, one day we came home after such a long day, and as I was getting water downstairs, I heard Sister Yanzon yell from upstairs, "Sis Mosher. We have a visiter!". Thinking it was another dang cockroach, I went upstairs to get that thing out, and I saw a bird just chilling on my bed. He was so cute. So we kept him as a pet and we trained him to teach the Restoration to our invesigators. :)
Also, this morning (since our house is pretty new and still not so decorated) Sis Yanzon and I filled out entire wall with mormon ads and liahona pages. Hahaha!
And another thing, we had an entire family come to church! We were so excited, and I'm so grateful for them!

I don't have a whole lot of time to email, and I'm sorry for that! But I will send a better one next. I had some really fun pictures to send to you, but I don't know how to use these computers.... so next week maybe? It's okay, i'm over it. Be safe, have fun, love life!

Week 31 - May 1, 2017

Not a lot has happened this week... We've just been anxious about transfer calls, and I'M BEING TRANSFERRED..... to the city. Where it is very hot. Luckily I got through the hottest time of the year in one of the coolest parts of our mission, and I almost didn't make it. ;) Ha ha.
We also have some new buddies in our apartment. There are giant worms that crawl out of our bathroom walls when we shower. It's real fun. :')
We also found some people to teach! The guy we are teaching is so potential and so nice, and he came to church and even to the ward outing- he has lots of fellowshippers and we are SO ROOTING for him! Pray! But I won't know exactly what happens to him because I am leaving, but it'll be good.
I don't know what else to tell you- this has been a good and unproductive week. Love you all, stay safe! I hope you enjoyed the 30 seconds of your life you just spent reading this email. :')

RMs from our ward in Antipolo- some of you from back home actually served with these Sisters

Week 30 "Heroes"

Sige. So basically I'm a hero. I believe that I've been called to serve in the Philippines to save animals and little kids' hearts. I'll explain.
The other day, sister Quebec and I were walking on the sidewalk on a VERY busy, windy road, and there was a little boy next to us, just in a PANIC. Trying to get someone to listen to him, but they were so busy. So we looked, and I just saw this small puppy, working his way through the traffic with all the confidence in the world. GOSH. This little kid was gonna see his puppy get smashed. So of course.. (Mom, this is where you stop reading) and I said, "Sister, we're getting that puppy for the boy." LOL. Okay, so we waited for an opening in the traffic to quickly cross the road, and mind you- the name of this area is "Zig Zag" for a reason!
I dont think I have ever prayed so hard for an animal. So finally, and thankfully the puppy crossed with only a whole ton of close calls. He then PEED, and prepared to cross again. WE finally made it over, and I grabbed that little dog and just looked over at the little boy who still had horror plastered on his face, and when we finally crossed back over with the puppy, the little boy hugged that little dog so tight his eyes were about to pop out, I swear.

So there is my story of the week. ;)

Also, I want to share with you something I've really been focusing my studies on this week- Priesthood and being worthy and willing to use the Priesthood, or for girls, to sustain their priesthood holders. I'm SO grateful for the priesthood. It really is the most unique thing about this Church, is that we have authority from God, and that the worthy and willing men of the church can use that. But unless a man or boy is willing and worthy, even if he's received the priesthood, he doesnt have the power of the priesthood.

There is a story from Elder Holland I just wanna share real quick with you:
Many years ago now, long before I was called as a General Authority, I participated as a speaker in a young adult conference. The conference concluded with a testimony meeting in which a handsome, young returned missionary stood up to bear his testimony. He looked good, clean, and confident—just like a returned missionary should look.
As he began to speak, tears came to his eyes. He said he was grateful to stand in the midst of such a terrific group of young Latter-day Saints and to feel good about the life he was trying to lead. But that feeling had only been possible, he said, because of an experience he had had a few years earlier, an experience that had shaped his life forever.
He then told of coming home from a date shortly after he had been ordained an elder at age 18. Something had happened on this date of which he was not proud. He did not go into any details, nor should he have done so in a public setting. To this day I do not know the nature of the incident, but it was significant enough to him to have affected his spirit and his self-esteem.
As he sat in his car for a while in the driveway of his own home, thinking things through and feeling genuine sorrow for whatever had happened, his nonmember mother came running frantically from the house straight to his car. In an instant she conveyed that this boy’s younger brother—I do not know what the age of the younger boy was—had just fallen in the home, had hit his head sharply and was having some kind of seizure or convulsion. The nonmember father had immediately called 911, but it would take some time at best for help to come.
“Come and do something,” she cried. “Isn’t there something you do in your Church at times like this? You have their priesthood. Come and do something.”
His mother didn’t know a lot about the Church at that point, but she knew something of priesthood blessings. Nevertheless, on this night when someone he loved dearly needed his faith and his strength, this young man could not respond. Given the feelings he had just been wrestling with, and the compromise he felt he had just made—whatever that was—he could not bring himself to go before the Lord and ask for the blessing that was needed.
He bolted from the car and ran down the street several hundred yards to the home of a worthy older man who had befriended him in the ward ever since the boy’s conversion two or three years earlier. An explanation was given, the older brother responded, and the two were back at the house still well before the paramedics arrived. The happy ending of this story as told in that testimony meeting was that this older man instantly gave a sweet, powerful priesthood blessing, leaving the injured child stable and resting by the time medical help arrived. A quick trip to the hospital and a thorough exam there revealed no permanent damage had been done. A very fearful moment for this family had passed.
Then the returned missionary of whom I speak said this: “No one who has not faced what I faced that night will ever know the shame I felt and the sorrow I bore for not feeling worthy to use my priesthood. It is an even more painful memory for me because it was my own little brother who needed me, and my beloved nonmember parents who were so fearful and who had a right to expect more of me. But as I stand before you today I can promise you this,” he said. “I am not perfect, but from that night onward I have never done anything that would keep me from going before the Lord with confidence and asking for His help when it is needed. Personal worthiness is a battle in this world in which we live,” he acknowledged, “but it is a battle I am winning. I have felt the finger of condemnation pointing at me once in my life, and I don’t intend to feel it ever again if I can do anything about it. And, of course,” he concluded, “I can do everything about it.”
He finished his testimony and sat down. I can still picture him. I can still see the setting we were in. And I can still remember the stark, moving silence that followed his remarks as everyone in the room had occasion to search his or her soul a little deeper, vowing a little stronger to live by these powerful words given by the Lord: “Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven. The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth” (D&C 121:45–46

Anyway, I love you all so much, and I hope you're happy and safe! Make good choices!

We found Ben & Jerry's and New Zealand Ice Cream- Home sweet home. Except the ice cream was like 400 pesos.... so.
This is the first time I have seen Fanta since I've been here. They have the rip-off version, Royal. ;) Tastes exactly the same.

Week 29 "Cute Story, huh?"

Sige! Story time. My very favorite things that happened this week! There is this SUPER cute little boy in our ward, about 5 years old. So chatty! And he was just chatting with the New Zealand sister, and out of NO WHERE, he grabs her cheeks (like a grandmother would), shakes her face in his little hands and says to her with his face so close, "Ang pangit mo!" Which basically translates to "You are so ugly!" I LOST IT! It was so funny.
And the other day, Sis Quebec and I were walking in our area (and I have lots of kiddo buddies who give me highfives- its my FAV) and so there were four little boys who were holding lots of stuff, to the point where their hands were completely full. And as soon as they saw me, they literally dropped everything and RAN to me with their hands in the air, ready for a highfive. IT MELTED MY HEART. I've never loved kids more than when I came here. They are my BUDDIES for real.

Basta, happy happy EASTER SUNDAY. I'm so GRATEFUL for Easter season, which represents Jesus Christ's miraculous resurrection! I've been asked a lot here why Mormons don't use crosses as our symbol, and it's truly because we don't focus and linger our thoughts (although SO important) on the death of Jesus Christ, but more on His wonderful resurrection which secures in our minds that death is NOT the end, and that life has a perfect purpose. I love you all, and remember why we celebrate Easter! And how the easter bunny gives eggs. I still dont understand that. :)
