Before I begin, I want to say pasensiya (sorry) if I have bad grammar. I have LITERALLY only been here for a week, pero I am already finding that my english is slowly declining. My conference notes are all messed up because I would forget words, and kind of just make a scribble. And whenever someone says a prayer in English, or simple phrases like "yes" at "no" in English, I really have to think about it. It throws me off. I have Tagalog running through my mind constantly.
And for those of you who DO speak Tagalog, don't criticize my bad Tagalog, either. I'm still learning. Slowly, but surely.
Anyway, I love it here. It's SOBRANG fun! I am in a Trio with Sister Matheny and Sister Whaley! These girls are my favorite! I'll send some pictures. Sister Whaley is so strong in the gospel and she has the cutest laugh- she also thinks its funny that I call everything "cute". At Sister Matheny is so funny! She's funny in the way that my Grandma Nancy is funny- just without trying. She forgets everything, pero we always have a good laugh about it.
My District is HILARIOUS. They're so fun. We have an Elder who is from Englang, so we get to hear an english accent every day. He says that Americans have a weird sense of humor, and that everything in England is more proper than things in America.. Hard to believe, right? ;) But it's so fun here. I love all the mga misyonero!! They're all so friendly. :')
Conference here in the MTC as a MISYONERO was MAGANDA!! One of my FAVORITE quotes EVER was from Elder Ronald A. Rasband, and he said something along the lines of: "In times of spiritual crisis, draw on what you KNOW. You will again feel the safety and warmth of the Gospel." And that's so TRUE!
Before my mission, I was so afraid that my testimony wasn't good enough, and that I would be a terrible misyonero because I didn't know everything. Pero my Bishop told me to just draw back on what I know. I've felt the truth of this enbanghelyo (gospel), and I know it's REAL. In the General Woman's Conference, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said (something along the lines of), "FAITH is TRUST." Faith isn't just trusting in God's wisdom, pero in His LOVE as well. Have faith that trials and unanswered questions are for our benefit. "We will understand one day, and when that day of knowledge comes, we will be OVERWHELMED with His MERCY at His LOVE. Until then, walk by what faith you have"
UNTIL that day of understanding, walk by whatever FAITH you have. It doesn't matter if your faith is as small as a mustard seed- that's enough for now. Having the desire is the NECESSARY first step. That's what Pres. Uchtdorf says in another talk: "Be Not Afraid, Only Believe". I listened to this talk almost every day before my mission. Dang, that seems like so long ago- I feel like I've been here forever (pero that's not a bad thing) ;)
LISTEN TO IT. It is INCREDIBLE.
I really do love it here, and I'm masaya (happy). Pero I do miss listening to music- even though literally all I listened to before I left was Vocal Point at mga hymns. HA! Funny thing is that on Sunday night, Vocal Point actually CAME to the MTC and gave a devotional/performance. Maganda. It made me want to cry- I felt the spirit so strongly. There's something about listening to music that really brings the spirit. :)
GUYS, (whoops. I was told that I'm not allowed to call people 'guys' anymore! HAHAH) but GUYS! THIS GOSPEL IS AMAZING! This MTC is amazing! Life is amazing!
