Monday was the start of our week (weh), and it was a good day. We sent emails, did some shopping, and it was lots of fun. But when it was time to go out and work, we didn't really know where we were going to go- we were totally winging it becuase none of our investigators are available past 7pm, so we went to this members house. SO nice, siya.. but SO CHATTY. We would try to share, and we would be doing a pretty good job at reigning her in, but it didn't work very well, ha ha ha! We would ask her how her BOM reading has been, and the next second she is talking about Canada. So chatty and way too friendly. :)
Tuesday was a fun day!! We woke up in the morning, and I went downstairs to open the windows so that light would come into the house, right? And as soon as I whipped open the curtains, a GIANT rat jumped out at me and started squealing like crazy and finally ran into our storage/changing room. So I shut the door and we left him in there while we went out to work.
We went to work in one of our areas, Zig Zag, where the MEANEST dog lives. Every time we try to cross his path, he barks and growls and tries nipping our heels with his razor sharp teeth. Whenever things like this happen, we always have to pick up a rock to pretend to throw it at the dog and it'll run away, but it wasn't until we actually threw giants rocks at it, that it finally left us alone (kind of). These dogs, man. We also see poor dogs with no fur and skin falling off its body- we call them the zombie dogs. I didn't have the heart to take a picture for you- sorry.
When we got home that night, we got to take care of the rat living in our house. We blocked all of the doorways, and we got the broom and we chased him out- it was nuts. We learned that he had been living in our fridge. Gross. ;)

Wednesday we did some shopping because we had no more support on Monday- I was down to 50 pesos (which is the equivalent to 1 dollar lol) anyway, at the shops its funny because when you buy meat, the meat is all just laying out and when people look at it to buy it, they just pick it up with their hands. It smells SO bad. But it's funny because you'll find a whole pig's leg, and a giant flab of skin, or chicken feet. Lots of parts that we don't care so much for I guess.
Thursday started out with Sister Estrella and I heading to an investigators house, but while we were walking down the small alley way to get to her house, this man was walking towards us, so we said hi, of course. But his response to our 'hi" was that he walked right in between us and let out the longest burp. We had to really hold ourselves together so that we wouldnt bust up laughing in front of him! Hahaha.
I also was told by a little girl that I have dragon eyes! Probably the best compliment I've gotten here. Ha ha. Also, fun story: we were teaching a lesson at a members house in one of our sketchiest areas, and the sun was going down. Anyway, we were in here living room, and my comp needed to use the bathroom, so it was just me in the living room alone, and this guy walks into the house, SO sweaty and kind of disoriented. And me being oblivious, thought that it was their son who had just gotten done playing a very taxing game of basketball (he was dressed like it), and then the next thing I knew, the member was shoving this guy out of her house with pure terror on her face. Turns out the man was a drug addict, who had wandered into her house. Like a zombie, talaga. It was super sketchy. They said that it was a miracle that he hadn't seen me. Fun, right? ;)
FHE- the red marks are lipstick marks.
And on Friday we met a neat man. He was just sitting on his front porch, watching as the world passed by, just laughing with the kids. So special. :) We talked to him, and he reminds me of my grandpa. He told us that anything is possible as long as we have a drive and the determination. That's good for us all to know. :)
I read something that I thought was super special. Mother Teresa had once written something that read: "Please pray specially for me that I may not spoil this work and that our Lord may show Himself- for there is such a terrible darkness within me, as if everything was dead. It has been like this more or less from the time I started the work. As our Lord to give me courage." to which a man replied:
"God guides you, you are not so much in the dark as you think. The path to be followed may not always be clear at once, Pray for light, do not decide too quickly, listen to what others have to say, consider their reasons. You will always find something to help you... Guided by faith, by prayers, and by reason with a right intention, you have enough."
This reminds me so much of missionary work, really.
Even the apostles had a hard time when they started, daw. Satan really pushes us to our limits, and we have to feel him at his most powerful, so that we can rise above that and fulfill our calling. "If Mother Teresa could live her religion without all of the answers and without a feeling of clarity in all things, maybe we can, too." Take one simple step of faith at a time. Then another, then another.
A close friend of mine told me that one step forward is just another step closer to being home.
Whereever home is for you, take that step of faith forward, and eventually, through prayer and study and obedience, you will make it home, you will find your faith, and you will learn to be grateful for the answers you have received, and not focus so much on the things you don't know.. Even if you feel in the dark.
That was my special thought of the week. :)
I hope youre all doing well and that you're all safe. Be good, make good choices, have fun. :) I love you all.
